 BENEFITS OF

THE GYROTONIC® METHOD is an original and unique movement method that addresses the entire person, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency. The Gyrotonic Method is practiced in group or private classes under the instruction of a qualified Gyrotonic Trainer. With Gyrotonic exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.

Invented in 1977 by the Hungarian dancer Juliu Horvath, who was particularly interested in human physiology. The method was originally called Yoga for Dancers, then White Cloud. Now known as The Gyrotonic Method it was brought to the United States in the early 1980s. It was given its current name to highlight its

goal of improving the body’s circulation and tone.

WHAT                          AND ITS APPLICATIONS CAN DO FOR YOU!

Gyrotonic uses your body’s natural spherical and spiraling movement patterns to decompress and strengthen your entire spine. Not only is your spine the foundation for all movement; many believe it is the structural foundation for good health. The Gyrotonic workout consists of progressively challenging exercise modules that promote joint mobility. Its multi-directional, circular movement make you less vulnerable to injuries, stress and micro-traumas by increasing your spinal column’s functional ability. Being able to complete multiple joint movements without compression gives the body extraordinary flexibility and capability. At the practice’s heart are seven spinal movement principles which also stimulate the nervous system, creating a sense of balance in the upright body: - bending forward - extending backward - side-bending the right - side-bending to the left - rotating to the right - rotating to the left - articulated, circular motion Gyrotonic principles embrace key elements also found in yoga, dance, swimming and martial arts. Through speed  nd endurance variations, you can create an actual simulation of sport activity. The program uses undulating and rhythmical exercises to work systematically and softly on joints and muscles, building core and lean muscle strength, while nourishing the body with focused breath work. Every exercise is synchronized with a specific type of breathing pattern, which builds breathing endurance. Advanced programs utilize both delicate and vigorous cardiovascular and aerobic rhythms.

When Alan first came in for a Gyrotonic session he was in pain and not able to play his regular tennis match. He is experiencing less pain playing tennis. His wife told me yesterday everyone wants him to be their tennis partner now! He told his neurologist at his last visit about Gyrotonic, that it has really helped his mobility. " I can now touch my toes!" Gyrotonic offers over 70 traditional and Gyrotonic full-range-motion exercises that are relaxing and refreshing to muscles and ligaments. Each Gyrotonic exercise allows your muscles to lengthen and contract fully. The benefits include: decompression, joint mobility, uninterrupted motion that improves the range of movement and flexibility of every joint. You are able to both stretch and strengthen your muscles with minimal effort while mobilizing your joints and articulating your spine. Gyrotonic is for every body!
